1. Agreement to Terms

Welcome to SimpliHome! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of SimpliHome's website, applications, and services (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use our Services. We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the Services constitutes acceptance of any changes.

Important

By using SimpliHome, you represent that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. Description of Services

SimpliHome is a family and household organisation platform that provides tools to help you manage various aspects of your household, including:

  • Shared calendars and event scheduling
  • Meal planning and recipe management
  • Bill tracking and financial organisation
  • Vehicle management (MOT, insurance, tax reminders)
  • Property management and valuations
  • Contact management
  • Task lists and chore assignments
  • Document storage and organisation
  • Family news feed and communication

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Services at any time, with or without notice.

3. Account Registration and Security

3.1 Account Creation

To use SimpliHome, you must create an account by providing accurate, complete, and current information. You agree to:

  • Provide truthful and accurate information during registration
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Maintain the security of your password and account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

3.2 Account Requirements

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You may not create an account for fraudulent or misleading purposes or on behalf of another person without authorization.

3.3 Email Verification

You must verify your email address to access certain features of the Services. Failure to verify your email may result in limited access to functionality.

4. Circles and Shared Access

4.1 Circle Creation

A "Circle" is a group of users (typically family or household members) who share access to common data and features. When you create a Circle, you become the Circle Administrator with additional rights and responsibilities.

4.2 Circle Administrator Responsibilities

As a Circle Administrator, you are responsible for:

  • Managing Circle member invitations and access
  • Ensuring that all members comply with these Terms
  • Maintaining accurate information within your Circle
  • Respecting the privacy of Circle members
  • Managing subscription and payment for the Circle (if applicable)

4.3 Shared Data

Information you add to SimpliHome within a Circle is shared with all members of that Circle. You acknowledge that:

  • Circle members can view, edit, and delete shared information
  • You should only share information that is appropriate for all Circle members
  • You are responsible for obtaining necessary consent before sharing personal information about others
  • SimpliHome is not responsible for how Circle members use or share Circle information

5. Acceptable Use and Conduct

5.1 Permitted Use

You may use SimpliHome only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree to use the Services only for personal, non-commercial household management purposes.

5.2 Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

  • Violate any applicable laws, regulations, or third-party rights
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other malicious code
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Services or other user accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Services or servers
  • Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Services
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any aspect of the Services
  • Remove or modify any copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Upload unlawful, offensive, or inappropriate content
  • Use the Services for commercial purposes without authorization
  • Share your account credentials with others

6. User Content and Data

6.1 Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload, create, or share through SimpliHome ("User Content"). By using our Services, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to use, store, and display your User Content solely to provide and improve our Services.

6.2 Content Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content and the consequences of sharing it. You represent and warrant that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights to your User Content
  • Your User Content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
  • Your User Content does not contain viruses or malicious code
  • You have obtained necessary consents to share personal information of others

6.3 Content Backup

While we implement backup systems, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of important data. We are not liable for any loss or corruption of your User Content.

6.4 Content Removal

We reserve the right (but not the obligation) to remove or refuse to display User Content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable, without prior notice.

7. Subscription and Payment Terms

7.1 Subscription Plans

SimpliHome offers both free and paid subscription plans. Paid plans provide access to additional features and functionality. Current pricing is available on our pricing page.

7.2 Billing and Renewals

Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis for the subscription fee.

7.3 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through our payment provider, Stripe. You agree to provide accurate and complete payment information and to update it as needed.

7.4 Refunds

Subscription fees are generally non-refundable. If you cancel your subscription, you will continue to have access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.

7.5 Price Changes

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will apply to subsequent billing periods. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel your subscription.

7.6 Failed Payments

If payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your account to a free plan until payment is successfully processed. We will attempt to notify you of failed payments.

8. Intellectual Property Rights

8.1 SimpliHome's Rights

The Services, including all content, features, functionality, software, and design, are owned by SimpliHome and are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, and other intellectual property laws.

8.2 Limited License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

8.3 Trademarks

"SimpliHome" and our logos are trademarks of SimpliHome. You may not use our trademarks without our prior written consent.

9. Third-Party Services and Links

SimpliHome may integrate with or provide links to third-party services, including:

  • Payment processing (Stripe)
  • Social login providers (Google)
  • Government APIs (DVLA for vehicle information)
  • Property valuation services
  • Recipe import services

We are not responsible for third-party services, their content, or their privacy practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms and policies.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

10.1 "As Is" Basis

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

  • The Services will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
  • Defects will be corrected
  • The Services are free of viruses or harmful components
  • Results from using the Services will be accurate or reliable

10.2 Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SIMPLIHOME SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES.

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £100, whichever is greater.

10.3 Jurisdiction-Specific Rights

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SimpliHome, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Services
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your User Content
  • Your violation of any rights of another party

12. Termination

12.1 Your Right to Terminate

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us. Upon termination, you will lose access to your data and the Services.

12.2 Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time, with or without cause or notice, including if:

  • You violate these Terms
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period
  • We determine that your use poses a security or legal risk
  • Required by law or court order

12.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your license to use the Services terminates immediately. We may delete your data within 30 days unless we are required to retain it by law.

13. Dispute Resolution and Governing Law

13.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.

13.2 Dispute Resolution

We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any disputes. If informal resolution fails, disputes shall be resolved through the courts of England and Wales.

13.3 EU and UK Users

If you are a consumer in the European Union or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under local consumer protection laws.

14. General Provisions

14.1 Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.

14.2 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and other referenced policies, constitute the entire agreement between you and SimpliHome.

14.3 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

14.4 Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

14.5 Assignment

You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your rights hereunder without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.

14.6 Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure to perform due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
