The Best Family Organiser Apps in the UK: Re-Ranked for Autumn 2026

In March we published our ranking of the best family organiser apps for UK families. We judged them on the basics: a shared calendar, sync with Google and Outlook, meal planning, budgeting, UK-specific features and GDPR.

Those basics still matter, and the March results for them still hold. But what families expect from these apps has moved on. A shared calendar alone doesn't do much, so the questions have shifted:

    • Does the app help get the kids to actually do the things on the list?
    • Can it deal with the birthday and Christmas logistics that turn up every year?
    • Does it work where family information actually arrives, which for most UK parents means WhatsApp?
    • Does it tell you what's coming up, or wait for you to go and look?

We've added those four tests and re-run the comparison.

    #The Four New Tests

#1. Kids' motivation: points and rewards

Chore charts are nothing new. What matters is whether a child's completed tasks lead to something they want, without a parent tracking it all by hand.

What good looks like: kids earn points for finishing tasks, parents decide what the points buy, and a parent approves before anything is redeemed.

    #2. Gifts: wishlists without duplicates

Two grandparents buying the same LEGO set is a coordination failure, and it's a very common one.

What good looks like: everyone in the family has their own list. People buying can reserve items, and the person the list belongs to can't see what's been reserved.

#3. WhatsApp: working where the information arrives

Most school updates, club changes and plans from grandparents come through WhatsApp. An organiser app that ignores WhatsApp leaves you copying things across by hand.

What good looks like: you forward a message, photo or voice note, and it ends up in the right place in the app. You can also ask the app a question from inside WhatsApp.

#4. Proactive briefings: daily and weekly summaries

Any calendar can show you today's events if you remember to open it. A better one sends them to you first.

What good looks like: a short morning briefing covering today (events, meals, tasks) and a weekly look-ahead that includes renewals and deadlines as well as appointments.

    #What's New in SimpliHome

Since March, SimpliHome has added a feature for each of these four tests.

    #Points and the Reward Store

Kids earn points from chores, from todo items assigned to them, and from planner routines such as packing a school bag. Parents set how many points each task is worth, then build a Reward Store of things to spend them on: extra screen time, choosing dinner, a later bedtime. When a child redeems a reward, it waits for a parent's approval. A weekly leaderboard adds some friendly competition between siblings.

Children can use the SimpliHome Kids companion app, logging in with a PIN or QR code, so they don't need an email address or a parent's phone.

    #The Gift Registry

Every member of the household, kids included, gets their own wishlist. Each item can have a link, a price and a priority. When family members reserve or buy an item, that's visible to everyone buying but hidden from the person the list belongs to. AI can suggest gift ideas, or you can photograph something in a shop and it fills in the item's details for you.

The registry also covers family outside the app. You can share a list with relatives outside your circle, such as a grandparent or an aunt, using a private link. They unlock it with their email address and can reserve items without signing up.

    #WhatsApp integration

SimpliHome has its own WhatsApp number. Forward it a message from the school group, a photo of a letter, a PDF or a voice note, and the AI turns it into a calendar event, a task or a household record. You can also ask questions there ("what's on Thursday?", "when is the car's MOT due?") and get an answer from your household's own data.

#The morning summary and weekly digest

At 6am in your own timezone, the morning summary brings together today's calendar, meals and planner items (with who each one is assigned to) and a preview of tomorrow. It comes by email, WhatsApp or both.

Every Sunday morning, the weekly digest covers the week ahead. It also lists the bills, MOTs, car tax, insurance, mortgage payments and home maintenance due in the next four weeks. AI marks the events worth noticing, such as birthdays, parents' evenings and nights out, so they don't get lost among the routine ones.

#How the Others Compare on the New Tests

We've tried to be fair. Where a competitor does something well, we say so. These comparisons are based on each app's published features at the time of writing.

    #Cozi

Cozi is the only other app here with a proactive briefing: its agenda emails send your calendar to your inbox, and they work well. They cover the calendar only, though, with no meals, tasks or renewals, and there's no WhatsApp option.

Cozi has no points or rewards system. You can make a "wish list" as an ordinary list, but reservations aren't hidden from the recipient, so it doesn't prevent duplicates or protect the surprise. There's no WhatsApp integration.

Verdict: still a solid shared calendar and shopping list, but it hasn't moved into these new areas.

#Google Family (Google Calendar, Keep, Family Link)

Google Calendar can email you a daily agenda, which helps if your whole life is already in Google Calendar. There's nothing covering meals, chores or renewals.

There are no points or rewards, no gift lists and no WhatsApp integration. Family Link is about managing screen time, not household tasks.

Verdict: still the best choice for location sharing and parental controls. It isn't trying to be a household organiser.

    #FamilyWall

FamilyWall's strength is still its private family feed and messaging. It has no points or rewards store, no shared gift registry, no WhatsApp integration and no daily briefing in the sense we mean.

Verdict: good for staying in touch as a family, but it doesn't cover any of the four new tests.

    #OurHome

OurHome is the one real competitor on rewards. Its chores-for-points system for kids is good and it's free, which is a genuine advantage if chores are all you need.

That's where it stops. There are no gift lists, no WhatsApp integration and no daily or weekly briefings, and the calendar is still basic.

Verdict: still worth a look if chores are your only problem. SimpliHome now covers the same ground and connects it to the rest of family life. Points come from todos and school-bag routines as well as chores, and they all build one balance.

    #TimeTree

TimeTree remains a strong shared calendar, and commenting on events is useful when grandparents are involved. It has no rewards, no gift lists, no WhatsApp integration and no summary briefings.

Verdict: great for the calendar. You'll need other apps for everything else.

    #The Updated Comparison Table

App Kids' points & rewards Gift lists with hidden reservations WhatsApp (forward & ask) Daily / weekly briefings
SimpliHome ✅ Reward Store with parent approval, kids' app ✅ Plus private links for relatives outside the app ✅ Text, photos, documents and voice notes ✅ Calendar, meals, tasks and renewals, by email or WhatsApp
Cozi ❌ ❌ Ordinary lists only ❌ ⚠️ Calendar agenda emails only
Google Family ❌ ❌ ❌ ⚠️ Google Calendar daily agenda only
    FamilyWall ❌ ❌ ❌ ❌
    OurHome ✅ Free ❌ ❌ ❌
    TimeTree ❌ ❌ ❌ ❌

On the original criteria (calendar sync, meal planning, budgeting, UK features and GDPR), the March table still applies. The one update is that SimpliHome now also syncs with Apple Calendar, alongside Google and Outlook.

    #The Re-Ranked List

Rank App Change since March Why
1 SimpliHome — The only app that passes all four new tests, and it still leads on the original ones
2 Google Family — Best for location sharing and parental controls, but nothing new for running a household
3 Cozi — Agenda emails give it a partial pass on briefings; still no rewards, gift lists or WhatsApp
4 OurHome ⬆️ Up one The only competitor that passes one of the new tests outright (rewards)
5 FamilyWall ⬇️ Down one Still a good family feed, but passes none of the new tests
6 TimeTree — Still a good calendar, and only a calendar

    #Where SimpliHome Isn't the Answer

It's worth being honest about where another app is the better fit.

    • Location sharing and screen-time controls: Google Family Link and Apple Family Sharing are the right tools for this.
    • A free chore chart and nothing else: OurHome is free. SimpliHome's Reward Store, Gift Registry, AI WhatsApp assistant and morning summary are Premium features (£6/month or £60/year).
    • Just a shared calendar: TimeTree or Cozi's free plan will be enough.

SimpliHome's free plan still covers the shared calendar, recipes, the family feed and the kids' companion app. The weekly digest is included on every plan. Family (£3/month) adds bill tracking, vehicles, property and the mobile apps.

    #Our Recommendation

The four new tests have widened the gap. In March, SimpliHome's lead came from covering more of the household (bills, cars, meals, budget) in one place. Now it also does more of the everyday organising for you:

    • Kids work towards rewards, so there's less nagging.
    • Relatives can see what's already been bought, so there are no duplicate gifts.
    • WhatsApp messages get forwarded, so there's no copying things across by hand.
    • The day's plan arrives at 6am, so there's no checking.

None of the other apps on this list does more than one of those.
