Your Day at 6am, Your Week on Sunday: SimpliHome's Morning Summary and Weekly Digest

Most households have a routine for checking what's coming up. Someone opens the calendar, then the meal plan, then the planner, then asks everyone else what they've forgotten.

SimpliHome can now do that for you with two scheduled briefings:

• The morning summary arrives at 6am and covers today, plus a quick look at tomorrow.
• The weekly digest arrives on Sunday morning and covers the week ahead, plus anything due for renewal in the next four weeks.

Neither one needs any new setup. Both are built from what's already in your calendar, meal plan, planner, bills, cars and houses.

#The Morning Summary: Today, at 6am

At 6am your time, SimpliHome puts together a short briefing for the day. You can have it by email, on WhatsApp, or both.

#What's in it

• Today's calendar. Every event on the household calendar, in time order.
• Today's meals. What's planned for each slot on your meal plan, such as breakfast, lunch and dinner.
• Today's planner items. Anything on the weekly planner for today, or due today, along with who it's assigned to. Items you've already completed are left out.
• A look at tomorrow. Tomorrow's meals and planner items, so that anything needing preparation (defrosting, packing a PE kit, finding a costume) shows up a day early.

#Email or WhatsApp

Email gives you the full summary in a clear layout. It's the one to read over coffee.

WhatsApp sends a short, scannable message straight to your phone, something like:

Good morning Sarah, here's Tuesday, 29 September. 📅 08:30 Dentist – Ella · 16:00 Swimming · 19:30 Parents' evening 🍽 Breakfast: Porridge · Dinner: Chicken fajitas ✅ Bins out (Tom) · Pay school trip (Sarah) Tomorrow – Wednesday: Spaghetti bolognese · Football kit (Jack)

If a section gets busy, SimpliHome keeps the message short and adds "+3 more" at the end. The full list is always in the app.

#It runs on your time

The summary is sent at 6am in your own timezone. If you're travelling, or part of your household lives in another country, everyone gets theirs at 6am where they are. Each person gets one summary per channel per day, never duplicates.

#The Weekly Digest: Your Week on Sunday

Every Sunday at 9am, the weekly digest looks further ahead. It's a good fit for a Sunday-evening planning chat.

#What's in it

• The week's calendar. Every event in the next seven days, including all-day events.
• Highlights worth knowing about. SimpliHome picks out the events that aren't routine and marks them with a short label: 🎂 birthdays, 🏥 medical appointments, 🏫 parents' evenings, 🎭 shows and concerts, 🌙 evening plans. Regular weekly classes and work meetings aren't highlighted, so the ones that are stand out.
• Bill renewals due in the next four weeks, with the provider and the average cost.
• Car renewals, including MOT, tax, insurance, breakdown cover and parking permits, due in the next four weeks.
• Insurance renewals for any policies you track in SimpliHome.
• House payments, such as mortgage and ground rent, that are coming up.
• House maintenance due soon, like a boiler service or a gutter clean.

The four-week window is on purpose. A renewal that appears in Sunday's digest leaves you enough time to compare quotes before it rolls over automatically.

If there's genuinely nothing coming up, no digest is sent. You'll never get an empty email.

#How the highlights work

With AI event highlights turned on, SimpliHome reads the week's events and flags the ones a person would point out: "Grandma's birthday", "Dinner at 7:30 on Friday", "Ella's school play". Turn it off and SimpliHome uses simple keyword matching instead, looking for words like birthday, dentist and party, and it still flags anything scheduled after 5pm as evening plans.

#Turning Them On

Both briefings are controlled from Settings → Notification Preferences.

1. Weekly household digest is on by default for everyone in your circle. The AI event highlights switch sits underneath it.
2. Daily morning summary is off by default. Switch on Email, WhatsApp, or both. WhatsApp needs a WhatsApp number saved on your profile.
3. Click save. The next morning summary arrives at 6am and the next digest on Sunday.

Each person in the circle chooses their own settings. One parent might want the WhatsApp version on their phone, while the other only wants Sunday's email.

Plan note: The daily morning summary is part of SimpliHome Premium and is currently in beta. The weekly digest is available on every plan.

#Why Two Briefings?

They answer different questions.

The morning summary answers "what's happening today?" It's short and practical, and it's designed to be read in under a minute before anyone is up.

The weekly digest answers "what do we need to plan for?" It covers the birthday that needs a present, the MOT that needs booking and the insurance renewal that needs shopping around.

Between them, the household calendar, meal plan and renewal dates reach you without anyone having to open the app to check.
